WASHINGTON, D.C. - November 3, 2016 - Patrick Butler, president and chief executive officer of America's Public Television Stations (APTS), made the following statement today on the passing of Allen Weatherly, executive director of the Arkansas Educational Television Network, who died on November 1:
"We at America's Public Television Stations are profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of Allen Weatherly, executive director of the Arkansas Educational Television Network
"Allen was an exemplary leader in public television, serving the people of Arkansas with passion and an unwavering commitment to excellence and helping shape and lead a national public television system imbued with his values and animated by his spirit of good humor, good will and good works.
"We at APTS feel fortunate to have counted Allen as a friend and to have worked closely with him over the years to tell the story of the exceptional services AETN provides.
"Allen's contributions to AETN and to public television have made him immortal. We celebrate his wonderful life with Peggy and her family, and we are all better people for having known this deeply good man."
