WASHINGTON, D.C. - August 16, 2024 - America's Public Television Stations (APTS) president and CEO Patrick Butler issued the following statement today on the passing of former NPR CEO John Lansing:
“America’s Public Television Stations join the entire public media family in mourning the loss of our friend John Lansing.
“John led NPR through a particularly challenging period with dignity, grace and good will. He reorganized the system’s operations with amazing speed and creativity during the COVID pandemic, and his commitment to greater diversity in public media was the shining hallmark of his leadership.
“His service with NPR was the capstone of an extraordinary career in media and public service, and he has left a distinguished professional legacy and countless personal friends.
“We are profoundly grateful for a life well lived, and we extend our deepest sympathy to Jean and her children and the entire Lansing family.”
