NETA 2020 Presentation: Meet the Funders

January 30, 2020

If you weren't able to join us for our standing room-only session at the 2020 NETA conference this week, please download the slides and read the description below.

Meet the Funders: Station Grants from NEH and WETA

Description: Join WETA, The Grant Center for Public Media and a special guest from the National Endowment for the Humanities for a lively discussion of upcoming grant opportunities for stations. Did you know the NEH made close to $4 million in awards to public broadcasters last year? Or that WETA's National Programming team is in the midst of a project-palooza with a pipeline of exciting films, series and projects that offer local PBS stations awesome opportunities in engagement and education? Come learn about all of these resources available to you and more. Bring your questions!

Learning Outcomes / Key Insights:
Attendees will learn how to take advantage of all the resources WETA is creating for numerous projects including The Gene, Asian Americans, Finding Your Roots and Black Church. This session is also an opportunity for stations to provide feedback and make requests for specific needs related to these projects so that WETA can best support their local community engagement and educator/student outreach efforts. Attendees will understand federal grant opportunities available to them in the coming year, including how to apply, how their education work may best fit different grant opportunities and how to work with the agency to develop a strong proposal. Attendees will also gain a better understanding of the number of federal funding opportunities available to stations and how to get help accessing them through the Grant Center for Public Media.

Chloe Kougias, Manager of National Engagement, WETA
Amy Labenski, Sr Director, National Impact and Engagement, WETA
